Dr Naira Nayeem Akmal is currently working  as assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Northern Border University, Saudi Arabia. She has received her Ph.D.,(2012) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, India. She is an academician and a research scientist with extensive teaching experience of around 33 years which includes 23 years of research. Area of research interest lies in medicinal and phytochemistry with a strong knowledge of identification of medicinal plants, phytochemical analysis, isolation of phytoconstituents, structural elucidation of the isolated compounds and screening for various pharmacological activities.  She has been involved actively as member of various committees in organizing national and international conferences.  She has to her credit around 90 papers in journals of national and international repute and has completed 75 research projects. She is /was an editorial board member and reviewer for various peer reviewed journals. She has to her credit chapter and a book entitled “Medicinal plants of Northern Border Province, Saudi Arabia: A glimpse”. Guiding and motivating the students towards medicinal ,analytical and phytochemical research remains the core of research vision
