Dr. Marwa Belqacem Amara
Assistant Professor of Computer Science – College of Science, Northern Border University
I am an academic and researcher specializing in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning, with a strong interest in developing intelligent solutions that create real value and positive societal impact. I hold a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manouba, Tunisia, where my research focused on Arabic Optical Character Recognition (Arabic OCR) to support the digital transformation of Arabic content. I graduated top of my class with highest distinction in my Bachelor’s degree, reflecting my early passion for academic excellence and research.
I am committed to fostering an engaging and inspiring learning environment for students, and I teach advanced courses at the Master’s level in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. I actively contribute to key academic committees in the college, including those focused on Quality Assurance, Program Curriculum, and Course Development—supporting continuous improvement and the enhancement of learning outcomes.
Believing that a university’s role extends beyond the classroom, I lead impactful community-focused initiatives. One notable initiative is “Tech Enlightenment in Ramadan”, which aimed to raise awareness on how technology and AI can be used positively to support spiritual values, connect knowledge with consciousness, and bridge innovation with ethics.
My current research interests include AI applications for the Internet of Things (IoT) and the integration of smart technologies into modern systems to enhance quality of life and support future innovation. Through my academic journey, I strive to empower students, inspire the next generation, and contribute to scientific advancement through meaningful research and impactful community engagement.
