د. علياء ماجد سليمان زقزوق
Dr. Alyaa Zagzoog recently joined the Community Health Department as an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Nutrition program. She is the President of the Nutrition Journal Club in the program. She also works in the Nutrition Clinic at the NBU Health Center to provide nutrition education and dietary plans for healthy individuals and individuals with diseases to improve their quality of life. She enjoys teaching enteral and parenteral nutrition, medical nutrition therapy on topics such as burn recovery, multiple sclerosis, and vitamin D and muscle regeneration. She loves "teaching research." Dr. Zagzoog enjoys mentoring senior students, interns, and fresh graduates on their academic and career paths. Also, she welcomes collaborations with her colleagues in the academic, research, and clinical settings. Dr. Zagzoog is currently working on research projects focusing on nutrition with people with disabilities, employee health, and people with multiple sclerosis
Background
Dr. Zagzoog earned her B.S. in Clinical Nutrition from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah. She then worked as a Clinical Dietitian in King Abdulaziz Hospital, Jeddah. After that, Dr. Zagzoog moved to the United States to complete her M.S. in Nutrition Sciences with an emphasis on Clinical Nutrition and Ph.D. in Rehabilitation and Health Sciences with an emphasis on Clinical Nutrition from the University of Kentucky. Her dissertation focuses on exploring the nutritional care experience of burn survivors during the rehabilitation phase or recovery
Before joining the Community Health Department at NBU, Dr. Zagzoog worked as a teaching assistant for the College of Health Sciences at the University of Kentucky, where she assisted other professors or independently taught different courses, such as global health, cultural competencies in healthcare, ethics in healthcare, seminar in interprofessional healthcare, and community engagement
