The General Microbiology course is one of the most important compulsory courses in the study plan of the bachelor's degree program in Microbiology, and it is a prerequisite for most of the other courses in this study plan. It covers the history and importance of microbiology, the structure of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microbial cells, and methods of nutrition, growth, and reproduction in microorganisms. It also provides a conceptual and experimental background on different microorganisms (Viruses, Bacteria, Fungi, Algae and Protozoa) sufficient to enable students to take more advanced courses in related fields.
