Dr. Safa Chlahbi is an Assistant Professor of Mining Engineering at the College of Engineering, working within the Mining Research Center, where she contributes to research, teaching, and innovation in the mining and georesources sector. She is a mining and mineral engineering specialist with strong expertise in geotechnics, geomechanics, and environmental mining waste management
She holds a joint Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal (Canada) and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (Morocco) in 2024, where her research focused on sustainable mining practices, multidisciplinary characterization, and the valorization of mining waste
Dr. Chlahbi earned an Engineer’s Degree in Mining and Mineralurgy from the National School of Mines of Rabat (ENSMR), Morocco in 2018, following a Master’s Degree in Geological Exploration and Development of Mineral Resources from Hassan I University, Settat, Morocco in 2016
Her current research interests include mining operations, geotechnics and geomechanics, mine environment, and the characterization, valorization, and management of waste rock. Through her academic work and industry collaborations, she strives to advance knowledge in the mining field and promote sustainable resource development
